    The guide will tell you about the history of the city, about Greenlandic culture and modern life 300 kilometers north of the Arctic Circle. We stop several places along the way, among others by the fishermen at the harbour, the hunters at "brættet" and we pass the famous polarexplore Knud Rasmussen's birthplace and the old wooden church Zionchurch.

    Walking Tour to the Old Settlement - Sermermiut with Guide. (2 Hours - Public Tour)
    Beautiful icebergs are the setting for the old settlement Sermermiut, located one and a half kilometers south of Ilulissat - UNESCO named it World Heritage in 2004. A trip to Sermermiut is an absolute must when visiting Ilulissat! Hear the guide tell stories about Inuit people’s life and traditions before the Europeans came to Greenland. See turf hut ruins and touch the permafrost with your own hands. Return transfer, guided walking tour, coffee/tea are included.

Overnight at Glacier Lodge Eqi

Glacier Lodge Eqi was the first in World of Greenland's unique range of lodges. It is placed at the very spot where the French polar explorer Poul-Emilie Victor started his expeditions in 1948 to 1953. Since that time the glacier has receded somewhat, but the panorama and thundering sounds are certainly not lacking! There is a total of 15 huts and 5 wilderness tents in Glacier Lodge Eqi. In the huts there is room for 2-4 persons, whereas the wilderness tents have space for 2. Most choose to book the huts as a normal double room.

Overnight at Ilimanaq Lodge

Ilimanaq Lodge is the latest addition to World of Greenland's uniqe range of lodges. Newly built in the summer of 2017, the huts are situated on the edge of the coastline in harmony with nature in the first row, with unique vistas of majestic icebergs and impressive whales. Ilimanaq Lodge comprises of 15 luxury huts with adjacent gourment restaurant and conference facilities. The huts are built as a two-floor construction and are designed to integrate into the surrounding tundra. All huts are furnished in a beautiful Nordic design, and each has a private bathroom and toilet. As the highly modern buildings they are, they of course have flushing toilets, as well as warm water in the shower and electricity for lighting and heating.

Helicopter Ride Over the Ilulissat Glacier (1.5 Hours)

To fly above the edge of the glacier and the icebergs in the icefiord on the ride back to Ilulissat. Some of the biggest icebergs strand on a moraine underneath the water just outside town, and it makes a perfect climax to this excursion. Ilulissat Glacier is the most productive glacier, not only in Greenland, but in the northern hemisphere. Return transfer, instructions, around 50 minutes' actual flight time are included. Both private and public tours are available upon request.

Ilimanaq Settlement Walk (2 Hours)

Ilimanaq means ‘the area of expectations’ since you would expect to get a good catch in the mid 1800s.Your guide will tell you all about the culture and history, the way of life, and show you the main attractions in the settlement. The church, the school, the dog area, and the old loghouses, and many other point of interests in the settlement. Join this excursion to get a deeper understanding of your destination. Kayak Tour Ilulissat (4 Hours)

The inuit have been taversing the waters of Greenland by kayak for thousands of years, and now we can offer you to come along. Glide soundlessly on the water and experience the massive icebergs around you. Kaffemik - Local Family Visit (2 Hours)

‘Kaffemik’ is held on special occasions such as birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, etc. If one is invited it is impolite not to come although one usually stays only a short time to visit. Meet your local guide, walk towards the home of the local family, where coffee, tea and homemade cake will be served. The local family speaks English and will tell about life in Greenland today and in the past.

Midnight Sun Cruise to Ilulissat Icefjord (3 Hours)

Almost every visitor in Ilulissat chooses to try this boat trip among the icebergs at least once. Midnight sun in Ilulissat lasts from end of May to end of July. The midnight/evening sun gives the icebergs a unique play of colors that people return to experience again and again. Sailing during the night with the sun still shining is a fantastic and unusual experience. Return transfer, 2,5 hours' boat trip, coffee/tea, local guide are included. Public Tour.

Snowmobile Safari Ilulissat (3 Hours)

You meet the guide at the Quarry where a safety briefing and introduction will take place before you in pairs of two are given a snowmobile. The guide will lead the way up through the mountains and into the otherwise unreachable backcountry. On our journey we will cross frozen lakes and mountains with breathtaking views on the way. If the conditions are good, we will reach a viewpoint where the Greenlandic ice sheet will overwhelm with all its magnificence. Northern Lights Safari by Bus Ilulissat (4 Hours)

On winter evenings when the sky is clear you can see the beautiful Northern Lights flickering above Ilulissat. We will drive away from the blinding lights of the town and go out where the darkness is most intense for the best experience. Dog Sledding Tour Ilulissat (2 Hours)

The dog sledge is one of the strongest icons of Greenland. An Inuit tradition, dating 2000 years back in time! Ilulissat is the biggest sledge district in Greenland and offers many great dog sledge experiences. We  take you towards “Brede bugt” where you can enjoy the view of the Disko Bay. You might also experience to drive onto the sea ice if this is thick enough. Whale Safari - Among Humpbacks and Icebergs (3 Hours)


In Greenland we see around 15 whale species depending on seasons. In the summer it is usually the humpback whale, minke whale and the fin whale. The whales are swimming in the Disko Bay during the summer, sometimes close to the city, sometimes in the ice fjord or up north at Arveprinsens Ejland.
