Estonian Open Air Museum

The Estonian Open Air Museum is situated around 15 minutes from the city centre. The museum serves the purpose of teaching visitors about the life in Estonia during centuries past, namely the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries.

Set up as a traditional Estonian village, the museum has a church, a traditional inn, old school mills, a shop with handicrafts, and fishing sheds by the sea – amongst many other things. Traditional Estonian food is also served at the inn. Open year round, the museum also stages various events and entertainment opportunities, showcasing the unique Estonian culture – for example, the above picture is of a folk dance event held at the museum.
